Mission Statement
To promote and deliver high-quality, family- and community-based research, education, and community outreach to reduce and eliminate health disparities in Mississippi through: • comprehensively addressing the social determinants of health; • providing family- and community-based programs and services; • rigorous and comprehensive training and mentoring of students, post-doctoral fellows, and early career faculty committed to health disparities research; and • the creation of sustainable and mutually-beneficial community-based partnerships
Description
Established in 2014, the Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities serves as the research arm of the Office of Population Health at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Through a family-centered approach, the Evers-Williams Institute seeks to decrease health disparities through, education, research, research training, and community-based programs and services.
