Mission Statement

REACH (Reconstruction Efforts Aiding Children without Homes). Our mission is to help beneficiaries serving the needs of orphaned children that have been affected by natural disaster, poverty and war throughout the world, bring adequate places for them to live, learn and play.

Our approach is quite unique because our efforts directly help the beneficiary to develop the key partnerships needed for them to design, develop and build new schools, homes, medical clinics and other buildings.

Description

What is Voluntourism? Sort of a play on words. Take Volunteer + Tourism and add them together.
How would you like to build a home for a child or a school for an entire orphanage? You can do that REACH's Voluntourism Program.

REACH is developing Travel-to-Build opportunities for anyone interested in helping orphaned children in need acquire decent homes, places to learn and play. "Not the handy type?....No worries because NO SKILL is required! Anyone can participate and your "hands-on" effort can actually contribute to the success of the project. We guarantee it!

While you are in country you will get the chance to not only meet the kids but also eat and play with them. Then after the work is done you'll get a chance to visit some of the historical sites to learn more about the culture and history. We call it VOLUNTOURISM.

Come and join us. This will be a trip that you will never forget.

REACH is a great organization with a mission and a passion to do the best for others. In 2005 I worked with REACH in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in response to the Tsunami 2004. From family selection, to waiting for the materials to arrive, training the Sri Lankan work force to build in different methods, learning from the locals their techniques and assembling a sturdy steel frame home for a family in need. We began the project measuring the plot digging the foundation, assembling the frames, putting up walls stuccoing and finishing the home. I had a lot of fun working with the local staff, enjoying the culture, eating new foods and not to mention some free time exploring. REACH is expanding their efforts in building orphanages, schools and dreams for so much more as they begin to work in different communities building long lasting sturdy structures and creating a new workforce. I am looking forward to more upcoming adventures!
