The mission of the agency is to advocate, educate and act as a resource for the Illinois and Missouri portion of the Targeted Geographical Area (TGA), with particular regards to eliminating health disparities and resource development for the area most vulnerable populations. The TGA includes 5 counties in the state Illinois and 7 counties in the state of Missouri.
Writers, Planners, Trainers (WPT) Incorporated is a community based health organization that addressed health disparities with particular regard to HIV/AIDS.
WPT has a history and significant experience providing HIV programming to HIV positive and HIV negative High Risk Heterosexual (HRH) youth. WPT also has a record of accomplishment of service to the Lesbian Bisexual Gay Transgender Questioning LBGTQ, Young Men Who Have Sex with Men (YMSM) and transgender community in the East St. Louis area. The agency has a very close and supportive relationship with the East Side Health District, Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, City Hall, East St. Louis Township, etc. all of which provide referrals from the target populations.
For 8 years, through contractual and collaborative agreements, the agency has provided the following services: intense case management, support groups, mental health screenings, assessments, counseling group interventions, HIV/AIDS case finding, HIV substance abuse treatment referral services, BASUAH Ambassador education training, Prevention for Positives, Counseling Testing and Referral Services, Partner Counseling and Referral Services, outreach education through social media networks and social marketing campaigns.
