Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of Sexual Assault Support Services:

To provide services to the survivors of past and present sexual assault and to change societal conditions that allow oppression, especially sexual violence, to exist.

Sexual Assault Support Services creates social change by providing direct services; by empowering survivors; through organizing; educating; and outreach.

Description

Sexual Assault Support Services is dedicated to supporting Lane County Survivors of sexual violence, and to preventing sexual violence in our communities. We support the survivor's rights and goals, and work to ensure a compassionate and respectful response for all survivors. All SASS services are free and confidential, and available regardless of whether or not the survivor chooses to report a crime.

SASS Services:

24-Hour crisis and support line: Confidential support, information, and referrals for survivors of sexual violence and their families, friends and loved ones.

Drop-in center: No appointment is needed to receive emotional support, information, and referrals in a safe, welcoming environment Monday-Friday 9:00 am -4:00 pm.

Advocacy: 24-Hour in-person response includes: assistance with navigating legal and medical systems, transportation and accompaniment, information and emotional support.

Support Groups: Survivors and trained facilitators come together to share their stories and support one another. Breaking through silence and isolation can provide powerful healing.

Community and Youth Outreach and Education: Presentations for middle and high school classrooms, community groups, social service agencies, colleges, businesses, LGBTIQ communities, and faith-based groups.

Latin@ Services and Outreach: Culturally specific outreach, prevention education, and support services to Lane County's Latin@ community.
