Children's Health Initiative of Orange County is a great organization and I support their mission, so being an intern for them was a pleasure. The atmosphere in the office is great because everyone is so friendly and helpful. My tasks were well explained and I enjoyed doing them because each task was a new learning experience for me. I would definitely recommend my friends to volunteer for this organization.

The office was very friendly. Everyone was so informative and willing to give me advice and thoroughly answer any questions I may have had. CHIOC not only helped those who qualified for low cost health insurance, they tried to assist those who did not meet the qualifications by suggesting other avenues of health care. CHIOC was very informative on coverage and gave tips on how to remain healthy by taking care of a child’s growing needs. The work environment was professional; it was a good atmosphere to read and focus on the task given. The employees also were very willing to give me more of an insight into the runnings of a nonprofit organization including: grant writing, community outreach, and health promotion and prevention. I was also fortunate enough to learn about Americorp opportunities through CHIOC which has lead to my new title as Americorp-Volunteer Coordinator. Overall, CHIOC was a lovely place to volunteer and I am glad I was able to spend my time there.
