Mission Statement

Our mission is to enrich the lives of young adults with mental illness, ages 18 - 35, with experiences of acceptance, personal growth, and accomplishment. We use a peer-run model to create a supportive community with social activities, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.

Description

One of the things that is most important to young adults is having a connection with their peers. Unfortunately, having a mental health challenge can make it difficult for someone to fit in or feel like they belong. This can leave the young person to isolate, which ultimately makes the illness harder to deal with and pushes recovery further from view. Impact Young Adults (IYA) is a peer-led organization that strives to create an environment for young adults with mental health challenges (ages 18-35) where they can feel empowered and connected. Each of our peer-run programs accomplishes this in different ways.
