Our mission is to protect the people we serve, enhance public safety, reduce the incidents of crime as well as the fear of crime, while working with our diverse community to improve their quality of life. We do so with duty, honor and integrity, while at all times holding ourselves to the highest service standards for our citizens and members.
The Police Department has the responsibility to protect lives and property and provide professional police services to the citizens of the Town. The department strives to make the Town a safe place to live, work and visit, and is committed to protecting the rights of all persons. The Police Department provides effective emergency and non-emergency police response to calls-for-service and maintains and disseminates records in accordance with State Statutes and Town requirements. The department makes every reasonable effort to recover lost or stolen property, and facilitates the safe and expeditious movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic throughout the Town.
The Police Department maintains a Field Services Division, Support Services Division and Administrative Services Section. Included in this structure are a Traffic Unit, Criminal Investigations Section, Narcotics Enforcement Team, K-9 Unit, Special Response Team, Animal Control Unit and Records Unit. The department also supports community-based policing, crime prevention programs, D.A.R.E. instruction, School Resource Officer programs and the Volunteers in Policing program. In addition, the department actively participates in the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) Task Force, the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy (NARTA) and the Northern Arizona Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Task Force.
