Mission Statement

We will reform healthcare in California (and eventually in the United States) by centering the financing in a non-profit health fund rather then through private health insurers and medical (sometimes referred to as a single payer system).

Description

Our statewide organization of volunteers has been in existance for 14 years and has had legislation (called SB 840) passed by the State Legislature twice to create this entity (2006 & 2008), but Gov. Schwartzenegger has vetoed it each time. Senator Shiela Kuehl who carried the legislation has been termed out and a new Senator has been selected to reintroduce and carry this legislation in 2009.

Our organization has formed a coallition with 11 other state organizations representing over 2.5 million members to carry on this grassroots campaign.
