Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, christian ministry, working in partnership with community members from all walks of life, to provide Summit County families in need with safe, affordable homes.

Description

Habitat for Humanity is a christian housing ministry with affiliates around the world. With the first single-family house being built by Millard & Linda Fuller in 1976, Habitat for Humanity celebrates completion of 80,000 homes this year for 500,000 people. By the year 2000, Habitat will have completed its 100,000 home. And by 2005, it will have doubled its efforts by completing its 200,000 home and providing decent, affordable housing for 1,000,000 people in need. All our homes are built with the help of the homeowner family. Families put 500 hours of sweat equity into the construction of their homes. They purchase homes at cost with 0% financing provided by Habitat for Humanity. With the Lord's help, we are eliminating poverty housing from the face of the earth.
