Mission Statement

The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County is dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness and improving the care and treatment of persons affected by mental illness. MHA strives to accomplish this mission through the creation and implementation of innovative programs, education, advocacy, and community partnerships. Our mission is accomplished through MHA’s strength based innovative programs, education, advocacy, community partnerships and shaping public policy.

Description

Since our founding 65 years ago, the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County, an affiliate of Mental Health America, has become one of the foremost providers of mental health services to the Monmouth County community. Dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness and improving the care and treatment of persons affected by mental illness, MHA strives to accomplish this mission through the creation and implementation of innovative programs, education, advocacy, and community partnerships.

As one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization, the work of MHA and our affiliates including Mental Health America and the Mental Health Association of New Jersey, is driven by our commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk, and integrated care and treatment for those who need it, with recovery as the goal. Much of our current work is guided by the Before Stage 4 (#B4Stage4) philosophy - that mental health conditions should be treated long before they reach the most critical points in the disease process. In the last few years, in light of so many stories in the headlines, the focus on mental health and wellness has never been more important. To this end, the MHA of Monmouth County is promoting its 'B4Stage4’ message.
