Mission Statement

The mission of The Career Action Plan Group is to provide computer training and technology certification for educationally and economically disadvantaged adult learners and youth.

Description

Established in 1999, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to computer technology training. Our rigorous and unique training style and results-driven approach is effective for all learners. We provide learners with powerful tools for innovative and creative communication in the workplace and for community service. We aim to prepare learners for tangible employment opportunities and to develop community-based partnerships.

We develop employment and entrepreneurial skills by training learners in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

We are a Certiport Testing Center, licensed to administer the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams, the globally recognized standard for desktop proficiency. We maximize learning experiences and empower individuals to transform their lives and their communities. We adopt "real-time" community-based projects.

In Feb 2014 I joined CAPG as a Admin Assistant to Ms. Hunter. parallel I also took up the role of a Research Assistant for Project Managers. I would research articles for them and submit them timely. Ms. Hunter is a wonderful human being. She genuinely strives for your growth as well as for the organization. Since this opportunity is virtual, I never felt I had any communication issues. Very professional environment. And yes I learnt a lot and this is something I will always remember. I told her the areas I wanted to improve on and she gave me a chance to do it. If you are an enthusiastic volunteer with an appetite to learn then this is the place. I eventually grew into Assistant Director for social media & relations. I worked for 6 months with them and will always cherish that. Thank you Career Action Plan Group

I had a great time volunteering for CAP Group! Mrs. Regina Hunter and Ms. Sethi are extremely pleasant, professional and responsive. I love that CAP Group recognizes the potential and value in all of its volunteers and encourages development and advancement, while also giving them the opportunity to contribute to a worthwhile cause. I would not hesitate to work for this organization again.

The CAP Group was an awesome volunteer experience. Mrs. Hunter was a pleasure to interact with during the assignments. This volunteer opportunity has been amazing and has provided me with sample writings that I will include in my portfolio. The best to Mrs. Hunter, the CAP Group, the staff and the volunteers. Thanks again Mrs. Hunter for the opportunity to work with your organization. Warmest regards, Ms. ReginaC

I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent volunteering for the CAP Group. Without doubt, my three months with CAP provided me with a rewarding and memorable experience. Mrs. Mack was both professional and personable in her dealings with me. Moreover, she encouraged me to tackle tasks outside my comfort zone. In addition to refining my advanced Microsoft Office skills, I was also able to advance my interpersonal skills as applied in a professional environment. Overall, my experience at CAP has helped me tremendously in pursuing my employment opportunities.

My stint as a Finance Associate with the CAP Group has been an extremely satisfying and worthwhile experience. I built on my existing skills and focused them towards creative and practical grass root level projects. Mrs. Mack made the experience enjoyable and I would highly recommend this organization to volunteer, to learn, to participate and to give back to your community.
