Cycles of Change APC is a collaboration between Cycles of Change, a 10 year old East Bay youth bike education program, and Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), a non-profit which manages housing and services for a 200 unit residential community comprised of 500 formerly homeless adults and families.
SERVICES
The shop offers the following services:
• Earn a bike program: Youth and adults are able to volunteer in exchange for credits which are used to earn bikes and parts.
• Used bicycle sales: Expert mechanics refurbish and sell bikes that have been donated in order to support the project.
• Bicycle donation center: Almost 1000 bicycles have been donated in the last year!
• DIY repair shop and mechanics classes: There are 6 bike stands and a full range of bicycle tools that can be used in the shop by visitors to assist in their repairs. Staff also are there to help others learn the repair themselves.
• Adult job training, youth internships, and volunteer opportunities: We are a site where adult APC residents are employed and receive job training in how to operate all aspects of the bike shop! We also offer unpaid youth internships and opportunities for volunteers to come and put their skills to work for a great cause.
• A safe, open and constructive community space for all: The bike shop is a wonderful place to be for people of all backgrounds and bike needs. Please come by for a visit!
