Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Horizons Greater Washington develops public-private partnerships between independent and public school communities to provide academic, cultural, and recreational programs designed to empower economically disadvantaged students to realize their full potential. Horizons is committed to the development of the whole child by providing experiences that build problem-solving skills, foster awareness of community responsibility, instill respect for oneself and others, and encourage a life-long interest in learning.
Horizons offers a six-week summer enrichment program and Saturday school year program on independent school campuses in the greater Washington region. At Horizons, students engage in project-based and experiential learning opportunities with a strong STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) focus. This allows concepts learned in the classroom to be applied to the outside world for college, career and beyond. Horizons also offers a crucial swimming component which not only provides students with necessary swiming skills, but gives them confidence which they apply to their academic and personal pursuits.
