Mission Statement

The Visual Effects Society is a not-for-proift, professional honorary society, dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of visual effects and to improving the welfare of its members by providing professional enrichment and education, fostering community, and promoting industry recognition.

Description

The Visual Effects Society's activities throughout the year include:

(1) Student Training and Mentoring Programs in partnership with colleges throughout California;

(2)Educational Seminars on such topics as Latest Cutting-Edge Technologies, New Forms of Financing & Distribution, etc.;

(3)Screenings and Panel Discussions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Toronto, Vancouver and Sydney, Australia;

(4)Forums that bring together major players in the entertainment industry to discuss business issues and challenges; and

(5) VES Awards Gala which honors 20-plus categories of film, television, commercials, animation and video games. In 2009, VES inaugurates the VES Student Award.
