The Neighborhood House, Inc. exists to assist kids, all families and single adults in their efforts to become self-sufficient.
Neighborhood House, Inc. is a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) community-based human services organization, established in 1909, that serves low-income children, individuals and families of the near east side.
Programs and Services:
Child care (6 weeks to 10 years); after-school tutoring and educational enrichment activities for children and youth in grades K-12;
Adult outpatient drug and alcohol individual and group counseling;
Senior services - transportation, grocery shopping, health and nutrition education, fresh produce giveaway, social outings;
NEST - health and nutrition education for expectant women and moms with children under the age of 2 years, annual baby shower;
Community organizing - resident education on issues, strategies to solve their own problems; client advocacy - referral assistance for utility, housing, employment needs; free Affordable Care Act health insurance education and sign-up; free tax preparation during tax season; fiscal agent services for organizations that do not have the 501 (c) (3) IRS tax exempt designation;
Court-ordered community service opportunities for juveniles and adults; volunteer opportunities for adults and youth; monthly food pantry distribution; recreational activities for youth and adults;
Field placement opportunities for college students in social work and chemical dependency.
