Description
The Vermilion Advantage Workforce Cluster System brings similar businesses together to speak as a single voice to the local education system and to the community as a whole. From 1998 to present day, they have created and supported educational programs focusing on character and ethics, math, science, and career-specific academies in manufacturing/engineering and health care. The clusters provide all programs to schools throughout Vermilion County free of charge. Many programs also require business volunteers to participate with the classroom teacher on a monthly or weekly basis. During the 2007-2008 school year, the Clusters provided programs to 40 county public and private schools K-14 and 5 youth organizations served a total of 5,962 students and involved 66 classroom volunteers from 37 of the participating businesses.
