Description

The Foster Grandparents program volunteers serve as role modes, mentors, and special friends to children with special needs and those at risk in their communities serving as one of thousands of local organization, including faith-based groups, Head Start Centers, schools, and other youth facilities. The ( FGP ) volunteer helps children learn to read, provides one-on-one tutoring, and guides children who would other wise be at risk at a critical time in their lives. They also help enable children with special learning disabilities to advance the quality and independence of their lives. Foster Grandparent may volunteer up to 40 hours per week and must be at least 60 years of age. Some volunteers may qualify to earn a tax-free, hourly stipend.
