The Power of Pain Foundation's mission is to educate and show support for Chronic Pain Patients, specifically those with Neuralgia Pain conditions including Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), Diabetic Neuropathy and Post Cancer Pain. We fulfill our mission by:
- Promoting public and professional awareness of Neuralgia chronic pain conditions
- Educate those afflicted with the pain conditions, their families, friends and healthcare providers on the disabling pain and issues it causes.
- Action-oriented public awareness, education, and pain policy improvement through activities and efforts to eliminate the under treatment of chronic pain.
- Commitment to raising funds for under-insured and low income chronic pain patients with financial, emotional and educational support.
The ultimate goal is to allow chronic pain patients the ability to perform their regular activities in the community and to bolster society's ability to provide full opportunities and appropriate supports for its pain citizens. Through supporting education for pain patients, family members, caretakers and medical professionals we make an important contribution to the overall knowledge and treatment of chronic pain. This allows our foundation to affect the lives of the millions of people with neuropathy pain nationwide as well as chronic pain patient's, caretakers, family members and healthcare professionals.
Who We Help
The Power of Pain Foundation (POPF) provides community based supported services that address the immediate need of Neuralgia pain patients. Accordingly, beneficiaries include patients who are economically and socially affected by these invisible diseases. Whether you have Neuralgia pain or are a caregiver, family member or friend of someone diagnosed, we'll help you face the challenges and life changes of chronic nerve pain, head on.
The POPF coordinates events to raise money for the purpose of education enrichment, leadership training programs and support projects for chronic pain patients suffering with Neurological conditions such as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), Post Cancer and Diabetic Neuropathy. Chronic pain affects the entire family and it needs to be treated that way right from the start, everyone needs to be involved. With proven research and emerging information, physicians are not yet up to date with appropriate treatment practices. Patients still are not getting a timely diagnosis allowing for proper treatment. There is still a tremendous amount of misinformation passed around in the healthcare and public circles. There is no personality type associated with RSD, anyone can get it at any age. This is not a psychiatric illness and physicians are now realizing that depression is normal for people in extreme pain.
