Mission Statement

MissionSAFE was created to address the needs of low-income and at-risk youth in Boston. Our mission is to work with highly at-risk youth and their families to gain the skills and confidence to thrive, not just survive, and to improve their community and their world.

Description

MissionSAFE: A New Beginning is a highly effective youth development program working with low-income highly at-risk adolescent youth from Charlestown, Roxbury, and surrounding Boston, MA neighborhoods. Their economic poverty and, in many cases, legacies of hopelessness, drug abuse and violence put these youth at great risk. In 2008 we will work intensively with 300 high-risk youth (age 11-24), and touch the lives of hundreds more. Over the last 10 years, MissionSAFE's multi-disciplinary programming has enhanced academic engagement and achievement; and the builds social, leadership and civic skills in the lives of more than 1500 youth. The positive impact of our engaging, enriching and safe activities on these youth, is strengthened by the development of consistent healthy relationships with caring professional staff.
