SASI’s mission is to support the efforts of older adults to remain in their homes: we make living easier. SASI offers two core service programs for older adults, their families and caregivers: SASI Home Care Services and Senior Connections (SC). SC is a free program that provides professionally trained volunteer visitors to socially isolated older adults. Volunteers are of all ages and backgrounds including professionals, students and families with young children and receive ongoing support and guidance. They are asked to commit to one hour a week for one year and are matched with an older adult based on shared interests, personal histories and stated preferences. Background checks are conducted on all volunteers.
SASI is a nonprofit home care agency that provides assistance to older adults who need help with the activities of daily living, including meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping and laundry, companionship, errands, medication reminders and personal care. SASI caregivers are professionals who undergo the required eight hours of annual training plus up to an additional eight hours of supplemental training to enable them to work with people with Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, or other chronic ailments. SASI engages in significant fundraising throughout the year to keep rates affordable for as many older adults as possible.
Senior Connections, a program of SASI, is a friendly visiting program in Evanston that matches caring volunteers one on one with isolated older adults for the purpose of forming a friendship. Our services are available to all seniors at no cost regardless of background, religion, race, nationality, sexual orientation or income level.
