Mothers' Milk Bank of Florida

The Mothers' Milk Bank of Florida is by far the best place I have ever volunteered at! I LOVE this place! It is for such an amazing cause...collecting & processing human milk & distributing it to those who need it most - premature & critically ill babies. The walls of the office area are full of cards & photos from families whose infants not only survived, but thrived thanks to the human milk they received from here. The organization's location is remarkably clean & organized. This place is immaculate! Obviously, due to the product that they deal with, sterilization is crucial. Everyone, from the lead lab technicians to the volunteers are decked out in disposable lab coats, latex gloves, hair covers & face masks. After all, our "clients" are important to us! (not to mention precious & adorable <3). Finally, the people here are all warm, friendly & accepting. Every age group is represented here but we all get along. Oh, & having a sense of humor definitely comes in handy! :)

Initially wasn't sure what a milk bank was but soon found out. I have been volunteering here for over a year and have become one of a family. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. You feel like you are making a difference and can see how you are helping. It is very hands on and they accommodate with your schedule and working preferences. Highly recommend if you have the time.
