Mission Statement

Our Mission is to awaken the dreams of a fatherless generation by giving them a vision for their life, and teaching them how to live in constant love and forgiveness. We want to teach them what LIFE is really all about. L: to love I: to have integrity F: to forgive and to be forgiven E: to equip them to attain their dreams and to equip them with the necessary tools to have a sustainable lifestyle "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." ~ James 1:27

Description

The Abandon Project’s Wednesday night program is our hometown community outreach program. Each Wednesday night we are having between 60 and 80 kids from the surrounding area attend our program. On a given Wednesday night, we play basketball, dodge ball, do crafts, eat pizza, and share a story from Gods’ word. We gather at Garr Memorial Church in Charlotte, NC, as they provide us access to their facilities. Most of the youth we work with are from broken homes in at risk communities and our goal is simple; To show them God’s love, provide a safe harbor from their daily struggle, and give hope to them each and every Wednesday.

We cannot begin to tell you the amount of "teachable" moments that our Wednesday night program brings. Each week we are learning names, engaging in stories, and sharing laughs with different kids. Wednesday night is the introductory event that is springing us into the lives of so many kids. Because of our encounters with kids on Wednesdays, we are finding ourselves going to ball games, taking kids to get haircuts, and sitting at restaurants sharing life together.
