Mission Statement

Bess the Book Bus is a mobile literacy outreach committed to spreading the joy of reading and building home libraries in the USA’s most underserved neighborhoods. We are especially dedicated to reaching kids in neighborhoods where they do not have access to bookstores and often have limited access to libraries. Some of our kids do not even have a library in their school, only classroom libraries. Many children and families do not have the resources to purchase books, creating a literacy gap in America. Our mission is to help close the literacy gap.

Description

Bess the Book Bus visits communities across the country conducting interactive read alouds and providing children with free new books for them to keep.
