Description

We will present quarterly community forums to educate our community on the environmental and health impacts of urban gas and oil drilling and storage in our community. We engage in neighborhood council meetings to address current concerns regarding oil & gas, such as the recent methane gas leak in the hills behind Porter Ranch and any threat to our health and the environment. We will engage with regulatory agencies to learn how urban oil/gas facilities are regulated, and invite them to speak at our forums. We will educate the public on how to contact regulatory agencies in the event of accidents, air quality issues, leaks, etc. We will engage with Home Owner Associations to keep them up to date on issues and activities. We will lead community hikes and clean up days to educate the public on the natural beauty of the area and the need to protect it. We will conduct health surveys and air quality testing. We will keep the public informed of other community meetings and forums relevant to our cause by creating/distributing flyers, online newsletters, engaging our neighbors via door to door contact, phone banking, and petition drives where appropriate.
