I feel like it is a good way to get involved with the community and make a difference

I joined a group of volunteers to help clean and maintained multiple gardens at an academy school on the Southside of San Antonio. We did some yard work like weeding and raking tree leaves. I thought this volunteer event was well organized. There were several volunteer teams doing different tasks. Then we would work out by doing some interval training at different exercise stations. For example, one exercise station would be for jumping rope and another station would be for climbing the stairs etc. It was a good cardio workout for me and I felt great that I did something benevolent and constructive by volunteering. In summary, this volunteer opportunity is good for the mind, body, and soul. I guess the only CON is that the next volunteer opportunity is at Phil Hardeberger Park and that is too far for me to attend.

Volunteering made fun! Great atmosphere with people of all ages and fitness levels. Get some exercise and community service hours in one shot. There is music, snacks, and they even handout raffle prizes at the end!

Very disorganized. It took forever to find where the event was located in the park.

This organization has many great opportunities that will get you involved with the community while also offering a beneficial exercise. The leaders are very organized, friendly, and interactive with each of the volunteers. Most events happen on Saturdays from 10am-12pm. There was a delicious snack provided by Sassy Chef at the end of the event and water was accessible whenever it was needed. They do an amazing job at showing the effects that volunteer service can have on the community and make it clear that we can both work out while we help out.
