Mission Statement

We are a year-round free youth arts workshop founded by Charlie and Iantha Newton, two working artists who have a consuming passion to see young lives changed and are committed to working with urban kids from high-crime areas to mitigate some of the "at-risk" factors that negatively impact their lives.

Description

SPLASH is an after-school program staffed by volunteers with a volunteer Board which takes place during the week, at the weekend and during spring and summer break.

SPLASH was founded by two working artists who are invested in the Westside community and it's vibrant children.

The workshop takes place in a large professional working artist studio housed in the James A. Henry School Bldg in the CHA's College Hill Courts on Chattanooga's Westside.

With the help of teacher volunteers and the hands-on participation of individual donors we use art-making to mitigate the negative factors poverty, violence and social neglect visit upon children who are growing up in marginalized communities.
