To better neighborhood quality of life by operating a community orchard that is a teaching model for sustainability through its workshops on growing fruit locally, and sharing the food in open-air events held in the Beachwood Canyon community, outreach communities, and food-charity organizations.
This grassroots organization holds several agricultural, cooking, & educational events throughout the year. We harvest about 1500 lbs of fruit at each pick, most of which is donated to food banks, & the rest is prepared in our pop-up kitchen in order to teach & share with the community. We hold regular Farmers' Circles, seminars about sustainable urban agriculture. We participate in educational work and donate to our local public elementary school, as well as A Place Called Home in South Central LA, a community center for underserved youth. We are planting drought resistant fruit trees in our canyon as well as installing greywater & raincapture systems. We have also recently formed an alliance with TreePeople, and received a grant from Green Wish.
