Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide expertly-trained guide dogs, orientation and mobility training, and other valuable services free of charge to those in need, helping to inspire and empower them to navigate the world with greater independence, safety, and dignity. Pilot Dogs is a 100% donor-funded organization, so the generous donations of time and money from the public allow us to continue providing these services at no cost to the people that we serve, which include military veterans, individuals who are legally blind, and students in our school resource program.

Established in 1950, Pilot Dogs is a private, nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio, with a mission to help people who are blind or visually impaired achieve greater independence, mobility, safety, and confidence. We provide our students with highly-skilled dogs, the highest-quality/expert handler training, on-campus housing, room and board, and many other services, all at no cost to our students. We have a rich history of serving our community, and we are committed to making a meaningful impact through our services and programs.
