It is our mission to offer peace of body, mind, and spirit by caring for the dying, comforting the grieving, and educating the community.
Description
When facing a life-limiting diagnosis, you can trust end-of-life care to Enhabit Hospice Services. Our compassionate end-of-life care is provided in the patient’s home, whether that is a home address, nursing home, assisted living community, independent living community or other location. It focuses on the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of both the individual patient and our patients’ loved ones: caregivers, spouses, children, extended family and friends.
We emphasize dignity and peace, controlling pain and other symptoms so the patient can remain as alert and comfortable as possible. Our medical social workers help the family understand and cope with loss; we can also call upon non-denominational chaplains to provide additional spiritual support and grief counseling.
As a Hospice Volunteer you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do. Here are just a few specific ways Hospice Volunteers can help: Provide companionship and socialization; Help with general office support; Play games, read and listen to music with patients; Write a journal or life story with patients to give to family; Bring your own special talent to share with our patients.

Given the opportunity to interact and comfort patients as well as their families has been very eye opening. I have met people that are diverse in many ways and it has helped me see life through other peoples experiences.
It is difficult to lose a patient, but to know that you helped them during this phase of life and learning how to meet them where they are at on this journey can be fulfilling.
The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting and interacting with so many unique people and learning from them.
Encompass Health & Hospice is full of people to help you as much as they are wanting to help their patients.
