Mission Statement

To engage the congregation of Normandale Lutheran Church and others in serving homeless families by providing housing and services that support their transition to independent living.

Description

n 1993, Normandale Lutheran Church (NLC) made a ten-year commitment to reduce homelessness and partnered with Our Saviours Lutheran Church to develop an "interim house" for homeless families. In 1996, NLC established and incorporated Normandale Housing Corporation (NHC) as a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. With financial help from the Normandale Church Foundation and regional loans.

NHM’s goals are to 1) provide immediate housing for homeless families moving directly from shelters; 2) Provide dignified housing and on-site support services for 3 homeless families at a time to transition them to independent living within 24 months; 3) Assist families after transitional residency in maintaining stability and independent living 4) Provide 8 units of permanent, affordable housing on Elliott Avenue and offer those residents support services to help maintain independent living.
