Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Island County Court Mentoring Program seeks to support those in our Therapeutic and Juvenile Courts by finding volunteers in our community to be allies and positive role models for our participants.
The Island County Mentoring Program has 2 mentoring programs:
Juvenile Court Mentoring:
Our program facilitates mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and youth participating in juvenile probation or juvenile drug court. We seek volunteers who want to help a teen mentee find purpose, set goals, and engage in positive activities in our community! If you have an artistic talent, outdoor skill, or trade skill you'd like to share or teach, all the better! If you have a business/trade where the teen could be an "apprentice" as well as your mentee, we would be particularly interested in your participation! We ask mentors to spend at least one hour per week with the mentee, and the commitment is about 6-9 months.
Adult Drug Court Peer Mentors:
Mentors for adults in Drug Court help participants navigate and fulfill the requirements of their recovery plan, and help them access resources for rebuilding their lives. Mentors might help facilitate and accompany mentees to appointments, trainings for job/life skills, positive social activities, or recovery meetings. They also serve as allies and role models to their mentees, showing them the benefits of a positive and sober life.We ask mentors to spend a minimum of one hour per week with the mentee, and the commitment is 1-2 years. We especially need people in long term recovery for this program!
