Mission Statement

Bloom provides safe shelter and physical, educational and emotional support to children who have been victims of abuse, neglect or other tragic circumstances, in order to strengthen them for the next phase of life.

Description

Bloom offers three main services for foster children in Georgia. Through our residential children’s shelter, foster care program, and clothing resource center, we were able to serve more than 1,200 foster children from 60 Georgia counties in 2015. Bloom has experienced substantial growth over the past year. As the need for Bloom’s services continues to rise, so does our need for volunteers.

Our programs include:

The Friday Johnson Home: Bloom’s residential group home, known as the Friday-Johnson Home, offers children ages 6 to 17 a homelike environment and comprehensive services so they can continue to be children. The home shelters up to 10 children, and the average length of stay is 8 months.

Bloom’s Foster Care Program: Bloom’s foster care program selects, trains, and oversees private foster families to care for children in their homes. The children are from all socioeconomic, racial & religious backgrounds, ages birth through age 17.

The Bloom Closet: At The Bloom Closet, foster children receive clothing, toys, and other supplies at no cost. Over the past year, Bloom has provided items to more than 1,200 foster children from 60 Georgia counties.
