Mission Statement

Log House Museum Mission Statement: The Log House Museum is a place to discover and celebrate the history of the Duwamish Peninsula and the Birthplace of Seattle. Southwest Seattle Historical Society Mission Statement: The Mission of the Southwest Seattle Historical Society is to acquire, preserve, exhibit and interpret historic objects, artifacts and sites significant to the history and heritage of the Southwest Seattle area and to inspire interest and promote public involvement in its heritage and culture.

Description

Built over the winter of 1903-04, this douglas fir log structure was built as a carriage house. It now houses the history of the SW Seattle history including oral histories, artifacts, photograph collections, reference library and heritage trunks and library for teachers. Events include walking tours for all ages, a bike tour, annual gala, membership meeting, research facilities and public information on the Duwamish Peninsula in Seattle.
