The Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble promotes artistic integrity, involvement, and awareness through exceptional dance training and performance in the Chicagoland area.

Description

  • A vital, non-profit organization founded in 1989 with a current operating budget exceeding $300,000, committed to a dance experience that enriches the lives of its audience. Guided by an Executive Board of Directors and Advisory Board, each with extensive professional backgrounds in dance and theater production, business development, and fundraising; and enhanced by an Artistic Advisory Board of professional dancers, choreographers and directors.
  • Presenter of major classical dance productions such as Coppelia, The Sleeping Beauty, Graduation Ball, and an annual Nutcracker, with audience attendance which has grown to include approximately 5,000 individuals annually.
  • A company of gifted dance students (11-18 years of age) who audition, and once chosen, undertake a rigorous training program, as well as roles in BYDE productions and community outreach.
  • Home to an elite group of professional dancers who audition for roles and are contracted to perform as Guest Artists in BYDE productions.
  • Through outreach programs, BYDE brings the beauty of dance to schools, hospitals, festivals and other audiences. BYDE has a special focus on senior citizens as well as disabled and disadvantaged youth.
  • Bringing authentic and professional quality repertoire of classic ballet to a suburban audience is a primary goal of the BYDE.
