The Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated they are currently revising the prevalence figures of Autism to 1 in 68, reported in March 2014. The financial burden is devastating to any family with a child living with autism. The cost associated with the most effective interventions in the treatment of autism can be in excess of $100,000 per year for ONE child, and most insurance companies do not cover these costs, nor do school districts provide the treatment. For the family, all out of pocket. To fulfill the mission of FACES, families that demonstrate financial need can apply for scholarships to fund their child/children’s ABA services. Scholarships will be awarded based on application to the foundation and a vote by the board. The foundation determines the amount of the scholarship based on the funds available and the family’s ability or inability to contribute additional funds for their child’s therapy. The monies will be paid directly to the center/clinic most able to serve the family and child based on geographic location, cost of the program and the enrollment openings. To date, FACES has awarded over $ 700,000.00 in scholarships to families.
