Riverside Community Hospital is committed to the care and comfort of our patients and improving the overall health of our community by providing healthcare services with integrity, compassion, and excellence. The Hospital volunteer: increases the feeling of sympathetic understanding; lessens emotional stress for patients and their families; provides the tender, loving care of kindness and courtesy to patients and their families; supplements the activities of the regular Hospital staff by releasing professional personnel from duties not requiring professional training and, by doing so, increasing the effect service of the Hospital; promotes and supports interest in careers in the hospital and health care fields.

I was invited to the Interview/Orientation which was at 9:00am on October 6, 2016. The room was full of prospective volunteers, all except for me were young and in school for the medical field position. After 2 hours of introduction to what volunteering consist of, the class was finished and thats when Lydia Maples told me I would not be able to volunteer because I have red hair. The point I am trying to make is, you could have told me when I first walked in. Instead you had me fill out paperwork and listen to the presentation. That is very unprofessional. I am happy though knowing I will not be part of an organization that is mismanaged and where communication is lacking. Odd that communication is one of the key points in your presentation. Here is a script of what is on the volunteer website for the hospital. Please note, I am a retired professional. Auxiliary Volunteers are people like You! Homemakers, career-oriented, retired professionals--of all ages.
