Description

Attempting to provide an alternative to crime and other socially destructive behaviors, Schenley Heights Community Development Program is designed to empower youngsters ages 3-18 and their families to develop skilles and attitudes for finding meaning in their lives. A strong academic foundation has been proven to increase self-esteem, provide future opportunities, and foster life long learning. In existence since 1995, SHCDP helps build foundations for over 250 participants by providing Pittsburgh Public School District aligned academic enrichment, exposure to the arts, participation in physical and mental health and wellness activities, practice in business development, involvement in community service projects, and numerous other experiences that will encourage them to achieve academically, explore their talents and interests and get involved in a variety of positive activities. SHCDP is committed to providing year round meaningful programming, including the After School Tutorial and Enrichment Program (A-STEP) and the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) both designed for children in grades K-8; Nadia Track Club; an early childhood collaborative for preschool children; and youth emplyment program for teens.
