The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education advocacy and service.

Description

Relay for Life is a community gathering where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at Lake Mirror Ampitheatre, and take turns walking around the designated track. Each team is asked to have a member on the track for the 18 hour event to represent the fact that cancer never sleeps. Teams raise money leading up to the event through asking support personally or team fundraisers as well as the night of by doing on-site fundraisers. It is a night of fun, food, and fundraising.
