Mission Statement

Friends of the Earth's mission is to defend the environment and champion a healthy and just world. Friends of the Earth is led by Brent Blackwelder, an environmental advocate for over 40 years. Its dedicated staff fight to protect the rights of all people to live in a safe and healthy environment, both at home or in countries around the world. Our campaigns demonstrate our belief that the fight for justice and the movement to protect the health of the planet are part of the same struggle.

Description

Friends of the Earth U.S. is an environmental advocacy organization currently conducting major campaigns on global warming, human health and toxics elimination, cleaner energy and transportation, and the reduction of government subsidies to environmentally destructive projects. We are the U.S. voice of an influential, international network of grassroots groups operating in 70 countries. Founded in 1969 by David Brower, Friends of the Earth has for decades been at the forefront of high-profile efforts to create a healthy and just world. Friends of the Earth currently has offices in Washington, DC and San Francisco.
