Mission Statement

The mission of The Door is to empower young people ages 12-21 to reach their potential by providing comprehensive youth development services - health care, counseling, education, legal services, the arts and recreation - in a diverse and caring environment.

Description

The Door offers a broad range of services to NYC youth ages 12 to 21, all free of charge. Programs run 11AM to 8PM, M-F. Services include: Education (college prep, ESL, computer training, GED instruction, basic skills, tutoring); Career Counseling and Job Training; Legal Services (advocacy and education for family court, immigration, foster care, and other issues); Counseling (group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and services for runaway, homeless, and HIV+ youth, as well as parenting programs); Health Care (primary health care, sexual health counseling, prenatal education and well-baby clinic); Creative Arts (music, visual arts, writing, drama, dance), and Recreation.
