The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars is to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives. Pop Warner seeks to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success. Specifically, Pop Warner seeks to familiarize players and spirit participants with the fundamentals of football, cheerleading and dance. Pop Warner strives to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness as reflected in the life of the late Glenn Scobie "Pop" Warner.
Alaska South Central (ASC) Pop Warner serves as the Highest Local Authority (HLA) for Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading in Southcentral Alaska. We are home for the beginnings of competitive youth football and cheerleading in our great state including: Anchorage, Eagle River and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.
We continue to provide an environment that stresses the importance of academic achievement along with athletic excellence and to instill our children the values of good sportsmanship through our example. Alaska South Central Pop Warner strives to provide quality youth sports to our young people that is a fun and rewarding experience that will last a lifetime.
ASC Pop Warner participants play and cheer in a minimum of **8 GAMES** per season. Our football program does have minimum play requirements, insuring all players receive game time. There are no tryouts and we take new players at every age group.
ASC Pop Warner stresses the importance of scholastic achievement, requiring a 2.0 grade point average to participate in games. We combine sports and scholastics for a positive experience.
