Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.

The mission of Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (or FIDO) is to help owners find alternatives to continuous chaining as a method of dog containment and to improve the quality of life of dogs keps outside.
FIDO is an all-volunteer group that was created in 2007. We offer guidance and temporary assistance to owners who are willing to work alongside us to improve their dogs' quality of life. Although FIDO has no law-enforcement authority, we work closely with Indianapolis Animal Care and Control (ACC). Through this partnership, animal control officers refer dog owners to FIDO who have been found to be in violation of local care and treatment ordinances or leash laws. We often can help these citizens with guidance on the humane containment of dogs as well as with supplies. FIDO cooperates with many other local nonprofit animal-welfare groups to improve the quality of life for dogs, to help provide spay/neuter services to the neediest dog owners, and to find new homes for adoptable dogs that have been abandoned or neglected.
