Mission Statement

The mission of MEANSwell is to utilize a volunteer workforce, existing equipment and farmland to produce fruit and vegetable crops for the use of food banks, schools, and other non-profit organizations which supply food to children and low-income groups.

Description

September 2015 - We have created 13 fully irrigated raised beds and 1 raised compost bin from salvaged barn metal and new cedar wood across Bordon Street from the Lorena United Methodist Church. Community support has been overwhelming, with irrigation donated from H&M Landscape & Sprinkler, land supplied by LUMC, and barn metal supplied by Windstar Farms.

A percentage of the produce will go to the Say Amen! Food Pantry in Lorena, Texas, which feeds over 100 individuals, including many children. Any surplus beyond this will go to other local pantries or non-profit organizations.

April 2016 - MEANSwell has purchased and assembled commercial-grade tables to provide seating for rest and community gatherings in the Lorena Community Garden.
