Mission Statement

The Michigan Wildlife Conservancy restores and conserves fish, wildlife and habitat, and teaches others to do the same.

Description

The Michigan Wildlife Conservancy specializes in restoring and establishing habitat for wildlife. We work--with member contributions--to counteract habitat destruction, disappearing species, and urban sprawl.

MWC staff are pioneers and leaders in inventing and implementing cost-effective ways to expand wildlife habitat. We work in many ways--
  • We pay for on-the-ground projects to establish wetlands, prairies and stream improvements.
  • We collaborate with drain commissioners to make their projects friendly to wildlife.
  • We help private landowners enhance habitat on their property--because wildlife knows no boundaries.
  • We advise major landholders--like utility companies--on how to use their land to help wildlife.
  • We create wildlife habitat learning areas in cooperation with schools and nature centers
  • We teach people who alter the land--like developers and builders--how to make their projects better for wildlife.
