The Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad (WVRS) is a Guidestar Platinum-rated not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that protects the public’s health and safety in partnership with the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service. Last year the WVRS’ 135 EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters volunteered over 90,000 hours while responding to over 10,000 emergency calls.
The WVRS was formed in 1955, and has served the community of Wheaton and surrounding areas of Montgomery County for over 40 years.
Each member volunteers his or her own time one night a week from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. and one day every fourth weekend. The station is staffed entirely by volunteers on nights and weekends.
