The Fellside residence is a part of Gould Farm, a therapeutic community located in the Berkshires that serves people with mental health challenges. Fellside is a transitional program that provides both residential and non-residential services in Medford and the Boston area. As a part of the team, you will have a chance to be a part of a progressive mental health recovery program that values community living and holistic healing. This position provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience. Volunteers support residents in acquiring life skills that will help them transition towards independent living. Working alongside residents, volunteers contribute their strengths to the Fellside community through wellness and life skills coaching, cooking, arts and crafts, music, yoga, fitness, gardening, administration, and more. Volunteers generally commit to a one year term of service and receive room and board (shared apartment, utilities, food, and parking), full medical insurance, and a bi-weekly stipend. Volunteers who commit to a one-year assignment receive room and board, medical insurance, and a bi-weekly stipend.

Gould Farm offers an opportunity for volunteers from around the world to participate in the life of this special community through a full-time, extended term of service in residence at the Farm. Volunteers participate in all aspects of the farm’s daily work. From tapping trees and making maple syrup, to making cheese from fresh milk, to working in the garden or preparing meals in our kitchen, or working in the bakery and cafe, our social enterprises...our shared work, strengths, talents and interests sustain a healthy community in which everyone can thrive. Volunteers partner with staff work team leaders and clinicians to foster work based and community experiences that enable guests to strengthen their skills, competencies and confidence creating resiliency in work and social contexts. Vocational opportunities at Gould Farm help guests find strengths they didn’t know they had, experience new roles, learn new skills, gain job readiness, and build self-esteem. The energy, vitality, and commitment of our volunteers provide a valuable contribution to our mission. Volunteers are immersed in the Gould Farm community working on the Residential, Garden, Forestry and Grounds, Farm and Kitchen teams, as well as in the Harvest Barn Bakery, Roadside CafĂ©, and at our transitional program in the Boston area. Mature and caring individuals interested in living in a therapeutic community are encouraged to apply. Because Gould Farm values the strength of its community, we ask that volunteers commit to a year’s service. We provide our yearlong volunteers with room and board, health insurance, and a monthly living stipend. A few short-term internships are available throughout the year on a limited basis.
