Mission Statement

Gladwyne Montessori School cultivates self-reliance in our students through a learning experience guided by the philosophy of Maria Montessori and informed by contemporary educational research. We provide a vibrant and academically stimulating program for two to 14 year olds that develops curious and confident students, well prepared to serve as responsible citizens of the greater community.

Description

OUR SCHOOL

Gladwyne Montessori is a nonsectarian Montessori school for children beginning at age two extending through middle school, nestled along Philadelphia's Main Line on a three-acre campus in the village of Gladwyne.

Founded in 1962 as a preschool called The Children's House in a rented carriage house in Rosemont, the school moved to the Merion Square School building in 1968. As The Children's House expanded to include elementary age students, it transformed into Gladwyne Montessori. The Merion Square School Building houses our Stepping Stones and Primary programs, a gymnasium, unique music and enrichment space and administration offices. The Rachel E. Savett Building, which was opened in 2003, is home to our Elementary and Middle School classrooms.
