Mission Statement

Chabot Space & Science Center is an innovative center focusing on astronomy, the space sciences, and the interrelationships of all the sciences. Chabot provides the following services that help achieve its goals of improving K-12 science and technology education as well as public science and technology literacy: 1) K-12 Student Programs serve 50,000 school children annually. Programs include hands-on science classes, Discovery Lab for young children, Challenger Learning Center providing simulated space missions, youth outreach and science enrichment programs. 2) Teacher Training provides professional development to 2,000 Bay Area teachers annually. 3) Public Programs reach 100,000 individuals annually. Programs include exhibits, state-of-the-art planetarium and theater, telescope observatories, and interactive family science and technology activities. 4) Youth Development Programs, including Techbridge, reach over 400 youth annually. Galaxy Explorers provides over 100 youth each year with opportunities to enhance their science knowledge and gain meaningful work experience.
