Mission Statement

"Helping where help is needed" is the slogan of ROKPA INTERNATIONAL and 17 Branch ROKPA's worldwide, of which ROKPA USA is one. ROKPA has no political agenda and strives to serve people of any racial or faith background. ROKPA INTERNATIONAL is a charity that was founded in 1980 by its President Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche, a Tibetan meditation master and doctor and by Ms. Lea Wyler, its Vice-President, a Swiss actress, together with her father, the well-known Swiss lawyer, Dr. Veit Wyler.
Apart from a small paid staff in the Zurich Office, ROKPA is served entirely by volunteers and total overheads remain under 10%. In the USA, even administrative overheads are met by specific donation so that all funds raised are given to the projects. ROKPA has a remarkable track record of serving the needs of vulnerable populations and ecosystems in the Himalayan regions of Tibet and Nepal with an emphasis on orphans, especially girls. Existing education and feeding schemes for the homeless and impoverished people in South Africa, have been supported since 2001. There is a project in Zimbabwe helping AIDS sufferers and their families with food, medical expenses and social support. ROKPA's philosophy emphasizes the reciprocal benefits that come from open hearted giving. Here at ROKPA USA we are focussed on raising awareness of the opportunity for supporting
Tibetans in their homeland through gifts to ROKPA.
