To facilitate cooperative action with and inspire leadership from people, organizations and communities for a sustainable economy rooted in the conservation, and development of our natural resources.
North Country Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc.(RC&D) is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit corporation which works in partnership with all levels of government and the private sector to improve the lives of people by conserving our environment, improving community services, and assisting the development and application of innovative uses of natural resources. North Country RC&D is an action oriented, project implementing agent. It proactively asseses natural resource needs and opportunities, creates specific action alternatives, convenes resources of people, technical assistance and capitol to make it happen. RC&D's principal areas of attention include protecting water and watershed resources through education, technical assistance and water quality monitoring, enhancing small scale agriculture by helping organize farmer to farmer networks and connecting beginning farmers to sources of help, helping communities and the state plan and implement new methods of woodland planning techniques, and helping communities develop needed facilities and services for small business development, rural fire protection, and recreation. RC&D operates with a minimum of staff and depends on teams of volunteers who are assembled to initiate a specific action. RC&D also responds to requests for assistance from communities, and other not for profit organizations.
